BFF Wednesday

So tempted to sleep in today. Took a few Advils before sleeping last night to ensure that my cheek wouldn’t hurt me throughout the night. Dragged my butt to the gym and did my requisite cardio while watching Juno. I with they would make a sequel. Would love to see how June-bug and Bleeker end up. Worked as if it was Thursday, because tomorrow will be Friday since we are off work for tomorrow. Had no plans for dinner at home, so totally looking forward to vegging out. Besides, my cheek is still in pain from the dentist yesterday…bring on the Advil.
Came home after grabbing some salad ingredients (bean sprouts and red onions) and made my yummy spinach salad. Only change…instead of bacon being sprinkled on top, I used grilled shrimp. Seriously disappointing. I can’t wait until after Lent so that I can move into real protein!
Was just going to stay home, but then decided to meet up with my BFF since she was in town for a layover from Calgary to Hong Kong. It was so good to see her and I just love talking to her…about nothing and everything. Even though we don’t see each other much, I love her…and I miss her all the time.

Barista Badge?

Did you know that you can actually score a Barista Badge on Foursquare just by visiting FIVE Starbuck locations? I think they should make it harder…you’d have to check in at 10…OR, they can have levels…”barista in training” and so on, until “barista extraordinaire”. Post from Starbucks here.

Terrifying Tuesday

I woke up super refreshed due to the restful sleep I received from taking five tryptophan pills. It is an awesome feeling waking up after a full night’s sleep. This rarely happens for me, since I am practically an insomniac. The only reason I took the pills last night was that I was terrified of a dentist’s appointment that I had today. The pills were the only way I could fall asleep.
I went to work for the morning, and left for my appointment around noon. I left myself plenty of time to go for lunch, and some liquid courage. I arrived at White Spot about an hour before my appointment. Ordered a Caesar salad and a 6oz glass of Chardonnay. I ate the salad quickly, and drank the Char even quicker!
Headed out after lunch for a cigarette, and found myself chain-smoking while shaking. It was the most scared I have been in recent memory. Luckily, for me, I had a lot of friends and family that texted me while I was smoking to calm me down. It is nice how a dental phobia can draw people together. I am lucky.
Got up to the dentist and had a chat with the assistant and I came clean about my fears. She was understanding and seemed to go out of her way to make me comfortable. I don’t think I was, but I tried to be brave. I leaned back with my iPod fastened to my ears and just blasted the music. I needed something to drown out the drilling noise. After an hour of tugging, drilling and patching, I was done!
Drove myself home while fielding calls/texts from people that were worried about me. I felt so loved. I felt a little silly being so worried and for causing so much concern to my friends. I survived and almost feel guilty about it. The only evidence of my trauma was a paralysis of my left cheek and jaw. Although I could talk with minimum discomfort, it was obvious that I had gotten some work done…like botox.
A friend came over to visit and comfort after. Brought me foods that I could eat, such as veggie soup (yes, it’s STILL Lent despite the trauma), Mario’s Hedgehog gelato, and Beard Papas. I’m so lucky. Instead of staying in for dinner, we decided to head to Fish on Rice for AYCE sushi. It’s soft enough…and I love AYCE! The world is my oyster (motoyaki).
Headed home after dinner for dessert, after all, I was pretty well-stocked at home.

Meatless Monday

Earl's Burnaby Bridge Park on UrbanspoonAfter the horrific dining experience at Thai Son yesterday, I decided to go with the tried and true…Earls Bridgepark! Headed there with a friend after work to catch the Canucks game. We were seated in a booth facing the TV. Perfect. As I shuffled into the booth with my purse, I felt my foot kick something. I thought it was just my friend playing footsies with me, but no, it wasn’t him. We both kicked the thing around for a bit thinking it was a fork or something.
I asked the hosted to please take a look under the table to see what it was. Well, would you believe it was a Pepper Shaker?! She reached down and retrieved it, and then neatly placed it back ONTO our table! She just giggled. I looked at her in horror, and said “can you please take that away, I don’t think we want to use something that was on the floor!”.
To her credit, she removed the shaker and took it away. Another server brought it back a few minutes late, but would you use a shaker there again?
Since I was still LENT-ing, we ordred the Calamari and a California Pizza. I was amazed at how big the calamari serving was. And it was yummy, not chewy umbilical-cord-like at all. The California was as you'd expect, and despite my dislike of baby/cocktail shrimp, I was pleasantly surprised with the flavours. The crust was thin, the cheese was melted nicely, and the whole thing came together really well. We did get pepper on it, but asked for the freshly ground kind instead.
Earlier today, I went for lunch with the girls at work today…at Urban Tea Merchant. I ordered the Tea Sandwiches special, and even remembered to substitute the chicken on for an extra smoked salmon one. No extra charge, so I think I actually got a better deal than the rest. Note to self, return for lunch to sample the Macaroni and Cheese as well as the Chicken Pot Pie, but not on a Monday, since they sell out of them on the weekend, and don’t have enough on hand for Mondays.

Slurping Pho on Sunday

Thai Son Vietnamese (Broadway) on UrbanspoonIt was my last official cheat day of Lent so I decided to satisfy my pho craving. Headed out with a friend to Thai Son near Broadway and Main. They were one of the few places that allowed you to get your rare beef on the side. Unfortunately, they don’t do this anymore. The noodles were okay, but the service was horrendous. We ordered an Ice Coffee that never came, and then the grossest thing…on the way to the bathroom ---> my friend saw a pigeon walking around in the kitchen. Yes, a pigeon! I doubted him when he first said it, but when we went outside after lunch, we noticed an inordinate amount of pigeons flying and hovering around. Gross. I won’t ever go back.

Suddenly Sunny Saturday

Shocked to wake up to a sunny day. All weather forecasts predicted rain/showers...so I was crossing my fingers for my golfing friends. I had no idea I could actually affect the weather! I AM ALL POWERFUL!
Had brunch with my parents at White Spot and was disappointed for the first time at WS...not at the food, since my expectations there are limited. I was disappointed by the service.
My mom ordered the Nat's Hearty intending to save half for dinner. She left the dish with "one egg, two bacon strips and one sausage link, along with half her hashbrowns and toast". When we asked for our takeout upon leaving, we were shocked to learn that they tossed it!
With more than half the entrée left on the plate, I expected them to know to pack it, especially after we told him we wanted to take it home...and even if we didn't ask for that, shouldn't he have asked if there was anything wrong with the meal, since half of it was left???
They received a prompt complaint via email...wonder if I will hear back from them?
Afternoon was filled with a ST:TNG marathon...and some laundry...exciting Saturday Sh*t...
Headed over to a friend's to watch the hockey game, but left soon afer. Nothing can console me after a tragic Canucks loss...not even the Extra Buttery popcorn from SilverCity, nor the Veggie Pepperoni from Panago...I guess the loss hit me harder than I thought.
Home to drown my sorrows...

Follow Me Foodie Friday

Had lunch with my BFF and her baby boy, along with her cousin. Little did I know that I was lunching with Mijune (the author of Follow me Foodie!). We went to Coast (my third time this week), and had the insane Signature Chilled Platter.
There were 4 adults, one baby boy, and we ordered the Platter for 3 people, the Lobster Hot Dog and the His Lunch Box. As predicted, the waitress was shocked that we ordered so much food. I am happy to report that we finished everything. Well, except for the not-so-hot Clam Chowder, but we did order dessert! I think we did ourselves proud.
The best part of being so close to work is that I actually had time to leave lunch, go back to work for about 30 minutes, and then head back to finish lunch. Just consider it a long smoke break.
Made a yummy dinner at home, my tried and true Spicy Garlic Prawns with Spaghettini. Tested the "dry long spaghetti" measure (the thing with the holes) against the food scale, and was shocked to find that they actually worked out to the same! Well, I only tested the one for 2 servings, so next time I make dinner for 3 or 4, I will definitely try it out, again.
Got caught up with the first few episodes of Flash Forward, but I have to admit, that show is losing its appeal. I guess things are never as good when it's the second time around...

Telephone - or my new ring tone...

PUSY WGN - what government worker was asleep when they approved that...LOL.

Just a second; it's my favorite song they're gonna play &I cannot text u with a drink in my hand, eh?
Boy, the way you blowin' up my phone won't make me leave no faster, put my coat on faster, leave my girls no faster.

Four for Four Thursday

Did my 4 for 4 this morning…despite falling asleep late. Since it wasn’t a cardio day, it’s always easier to get up. Had a work lunch today, and was quite happy when they brought out the first course, salad! The second course was not so good, half a Cornish Game Hen with greens and mashed potatoes. I at the veggies and didn’t touch the poultry at all. I overheard someone asking for a vegetarian option, and I promptly jumped on that bandwagon too. Ended up with a Fusilli Funghi. Yum! Glad I didn’t have to Worked later than usual but still managed to get home in time to watch some Frasier before heading out to dinner.
When plans for dinner were made, I was craving pasta, I didn’t know that I would GET pasta at lunch. Oh well, off to Cioppino’s. Had their Garlic Buttered Spot Prawns and the Spaghetti alle Vongole. Yummy…lots of garlic in MY meal tonight. Warding off evil tonight, I’m sure. Would have liked a simple dinner without the interrogation, but such is life...
Early night, going for 5 for 5 tomorrow morning – it’s cardio time!

Un-Winged Wednesday

Yay, Buck-a-Shuck Today at Coast! Was super hungry all day since I did cardio in the morning, and then had one hard-boiled egg white for lunch. The best way to break (the) fast is two glasses of Long Bow and oh, say a dozen of yummy little Fanny Bays? Mission accomplished.
Drove down to Charlie’s Place for their Grand Opening. Had a Cotes du Rhone at Charm Mondern Thai first, since Charlie’s wasn’t letting people in yet. Walked in and was surprised to hear that they weren’t serving red wine until 10pm? And no white wine until 8pm. So that left us with a weird watered down concoction of Goose and juice. What a waste of Goose. Plus, in the two hours we were there, they passed around maybe two plates of hors d’oevres. And they were the same thing, some foie gras cracker creation. What about the pizzas they are so famous for? Sigh – epic fail.

Terrific Tuesday

Long day at work but I had something to look forward to! Dinner and rinks with a uni pal…heading to Earls to catch the Canucks versus Oilers in Edmonton. I’m always a little scared when they play bad-ish teams, and I was right again. Left Earls after the second period (just too painful to watch) but came home and watched anyways. It was in the cards…we lost a miserable game.
And my friend who was visiting Edmonton had to witness the Canucks lose…sigh. Maybe he jinxed them.

Making it right Monday

Woke up early and dragged my lazy butt over to the gym. Did my 35 minutes of cardio while watching the season two and season three recap of Lost. Headed back home for a quick shower and then went to work after having a Full-Leaf Earl Grey tea from Starbucks. Got to work early and found out that my boss wasn’t feeling well and will be working from home today.
Made lunch plans with BFF for Coast (30% off food, but only at lunch) where the possibilities of what I could eat was endless. Smoked Salmon Flat Bread, Mussels, Fish and Chips, Mango Sushi Roll, Shrimp Wrap…etc. I think I need to recruit more people to come have lunch with me. Wonder if anyone is free this Friday.
I’d love to head back and have their “Hers” lunchbox…clam chowder, tuna sashimi salad and shrimp wrap in naan – all for $9. Irrisistable. The “His” lunchbox is pretty awesome too, clam chowder, fish and chips with a wedge salad. Too bad the “Hers” comes with the Manhattan Clam Chowder and the "His" comes with New England..
Home after work to relax…really looking forward to my Spinach Salad with Shrimp, and maybe a glass or two of vino. Planned on going to bed early to read a bit…the rest of this week is pretty much going to be a gong show. But the best laid plans...alas, talked on the phone for far to long and far too loudly. Oh well.
On the docket for this week: Drinks with friend tomorrow who’s just been let out of his cage (so to speak), and then drinks/oysters/prawns on Wednesday, back at Coast again. Buck a Shuck Oyster rocks…as does Peel and Eat Shrimp, also for a $1. Charlie’s Place in Yaletown is also having their Grand Opening that night, so I had better rest up for all the excitement.

Satisfying Sunday

A lazy Sunday that started off with lunch at Café Gloucester with my mom. It was a cheat day and I fully intended to cheat and satisfy my BBQ Duck craving. Although we started off aiming for Wonton Saga, then Congee Noodle House, lack of parking drove (punny) me to head over to CG. Despite a huge wait outside, the two of us were seated without any wait at all. Awesome!
Had a great chat with my mom and got her caught up on everything…probably more than she wanted to know! It was pretty productive and she is very wise. Things she says does make me look at situations, people and circumstances in a whole new way. Experience and wisdom doesn’t come easily.
Went home afterwards and vegged out – couldn’t decide if I wanted to read a book or to play PS3…ended up reading 5 pages and falling asleep. Good thing I set an alarm clock so that I woke up in time to shower for dinner!
Lucky for me, flowers arrived with my chariot...
Yummy dinner at Italian Kitchen – shared an Antipasto Misto platter first, followed by their famous Spaghetti with Kobe Meatballs. So much food but super yummy, I think we gave it a really good shot. Homeward bound and an early-ish night, if you call 2am early. Boy, it’s going to be a struggle to do that cardio in the morning…

Sad Saturday

Woke up super early and decided to download ringtones for my berry. It’s been a problem getting them reinstalled after my last upgrade, so I figure it’s probably easier to just re-download.
Had to head downtown to pick up my car from my work parking lot and then went for a quick dinner at White Spot.
The Prawn and Scallop Fusilli is pretty good, (minus the fennel seeds), especially if you have someone who loves scallops to share with. And fish and chips are always good…but the kid’s grilled cheese looked pretty awesome too. Went back to my friend’s place to watch the Canucks vs Red Wings game, but every time he left the room, they would score. Methinks he should stay put when the Canucks are on the ice. He must be a really big fan to give them all that positive energy.
Headed home after the game…a disappointing loss…but nonetheless, a great night.

Video...Fridays

It’s finally Friday! Didn’t do much at work today –but I did sign up for my course. Also worked out in the morning despite all attempts by my bed to hold me back. Went to Art Gallery with some co-workers to check out the free Leonardo Da vinci exhibit. It was mostly his human anatomy stuff, but interesting nonetheless.
Headed to Las Magaritas for a quick drink and nibble before heading over to the Bronze Sledge Hockey Game at UBC. Didn’t expect to see the Canadian team play for the Bronze and sure as hell didn’t expect to see them lose! Heartbroken now.
Plans changed for the second part of the evening only because I scored dinner resos to La Buca. Otherwise, it would have been Aglio e Olio with Shrimp. Good thing too because the only thing that soothed the pain of the loss was a fantastic dinner. Skipped dessert and headed home for some Marks & Spencer’s Potato Rings for dessert instead. Awesome.

Trout for Thursday

I was supposed to have dinner with my mom and stepdad, but they stood me up in favour for some other curling buddies. I’m okay with it…it was great to finally stay at home to relax and enjoy some ME-time. Made my trout and rice for dinner and vegged in front of the TV, watching the Canucks and Sharks game.
Decided to sleep early but was pleasantly surprised by a friend bearing a gift…UBC cinnamon bun…lucky me that he was working/volunteering at the Paralympics and decided to score me a cin (aka sin)-bun!
Ended up sleeping way too late…but still determined to work out tomorrow – it’s just weights…not cardio, WHEW!

Happy Green Wednesday!

Finally finished the newsletter that I’ve been working on for the past few days. Got the edits back for HR and decided that HR people are human too, some are even capable of off-colour jokes…mocking my Lent sacrifices!
After work, made my second Costco trip in three days…it’s like I’m trying to be the Mayor. LOL. Went there to look for some souvenir Team Canada photos that were there when I went on Monday. Unfortunately, they were all sold out!
But since you can never leave Costco empty-handed, I treated myself to a box of Arugula and Spinach as well as a box of mushrooms. Can anyone say Spinach Salad? Funny, I keep thinking that I would do something for St. Patrick's day...but just had a friend over for a little bit to catch up and chat…haven’t gotten together since the Olympics started! Watched some old school and pixel-ated videos that make me long for my youth…well, not really.
Chatted with my mom for a bit, trying to decide where we should have dinner tomorrow, only to find out that SHE was going to Poor Italian, but not with me. WOW, nothing sucks more than to be stood up by your own mother...
Took a long shower and then made my salad, sending the photo to Twitter so people can pity me. Actually enjoyed the salad with a glass of red, and just watched HIMYM. Chatted on the phone for a bit and dragged my lazy bum to the bed.

Tickets for Hockey Tuesday!

With the computers back up at work, I managed to make up for the time that we lost yesterday. It was a mellow night…just another hockey game…lol. Got home from work and got a ride down to Moxie’s to grab a quick bite before the game. I figured vegetarian options would have been scarce at GM Place. However, VanCanucks on Twitter actually responded to my post and suggested that I: Check out Amigos at Section 310 or Chopsticks at Section 121 for good vegetarian options at the #Canucks game!
Tonight’s game was not as good as the one against Calgary…we lost miserably to the NY Islanders. The crowd was so quiet…sad sight indeed.

Sprung Monday

Despite having sprung forward yesterday, a very lazy Sunday, my body wasn't cooperating this morning when tried to wake up and head to the gym. My eyes saw 5:45, but my brain said "Noooeffingwayareyougettingupnow!" And since my body follows my brain (most of the time), I stayed in bed and felt guilty for the rest of the day.
Things didn't improve when I got to work and after less than an hour at my desk, we experienced a nationwide server meltdown. I used the downtime to clean my desk, file my files, unclutter my drawers...I think I actually twiddled my thumbs for a few minutes too. And true to Murphy's Law, the computers came back online about 20 minutes before I had to leave.
Just enough time for me to book some vacation time for Maui in May. Good thing too because the tickets were booked this morning. :)
Shopping trip to Costco planned for after work - on my list: prawns, romaine and eggs. And since my trip is booked, this is pretty much all I get to eat for a while. Got to look good for Maui...right?
Dinner at Boston Pizza with two handsome fellas again...and this time, the littler one got the spaghetti and meatballs that the bigger one promised last time. Cute little monster.

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Springing Sunday

So the clocks move ahead an hour today, and I decided to celebrate by watching a few hours of HIMYM. Once you start watching tv...time just trickles along, doesn't it.
Also made myself a very "dinner for lunch" meal of steamed fish and rice. It's really not a "lunchtime" thing, but when you live alone, you can do stuff like that. Then I just stayed home for the rest of the day, but finally had to get up to go watch sledge hockey at the Paralympics. Given that you still have to clear security, it was decided that we should leave around 3:30 to be there in time for the 5pm start. One little glitch...those Canucks vs. Calgary tickets I scored yesterday meant that we would have to leave sledge early to make it there in time for the puck drop. Oh well, decisions decisions.
The game at GM Place was awesome, second time the Canucks played at home after the Olympic hiatus. It was great getting to see the medals too...yes, all three of them, because good things come in threes...just saying.

Saturday, March 13, 2010

Super Productive Saturday

Woke up early…Swiffer-ed (Wet AND Dry) the apartment, dusted all countertops, did two loads of laundry and cleaned the kitchen all before noon. Man, I need a maid.
Scored tickets from my boss for tomorrow’s game – it’s a good thing I forward emails from work to my personal account!
Also made myself a yummy lunch – Tuna Melt…without mayo. Felt pretty good about myself and was about the take a shower when I remembered how the sink was “slow”. Headed to London Drugs and bought Liquid Plumber to deal with the mess. Happy to report that it worked as it should and I am no longer suffering from a slow moving drain! Woo-Hoo!
Got ready to head to Cardero’s to watch the Canucks back in action on home ice against Ottawa.

Friday, March 12, 2010

Full Frontal Friday

Worked was productive, and I headed home afterwards to get ready for a dinner and a play. Traffic was AWFUL as this was also the Opening Day ceremonies for the Paralympics.
We went to Bin 942 for dinner and had an amazing duo of sides, and two awesome mains. I love truffles so we had to try the truffle popcorn, and they had these chickpea fries that I'm dying to learn how to make. Mains that were ordered included the tried and true Mushroom Risotto and their Lemongrass Mussels. All washed down with a bottle of Young and Wyze wine!
Headed over to the Stanley Theatre and watched Paradise Garden. A play with full frontal male nudity...what?? Not the type of play I was expecting, but the storyline was interesting.
Home for a night cap and just relaxed with some TV and my Rice Krispie square (on a stick). Indulgence.

Back to the Music...

Tiring Thursday

Stayed home and had a very healthy dinner of sprouts and fish balls. Wish I knew how to make the "curry" fish balls seen in the hawker stands. I don't really like them, but they get a little bland when just boiled into veggie broth.
Also made two Vietnamese salad rolls and by the time I was done, and had calculated the points for one, I decided not to eat it! Luckily, I had a friend who worked his ass off at the gym and needed food. But when he got to my place, giving him my fully wrapped salad rolls for dinner seemed silly. So I decided to make him a grilled cheese sammy instead.
And yes, I did force him to take the rolls out of my hands! Yay. Slept early and thankful that only one more day until the weekend!

Wicked Wednesday

Didn’t make it to the gym this morning. Dropped an earring down the drain, and had to rush out of the house today. Sigh…but still ended up going to work feeling very tired. Had a nice tea for breakfast, actually make that three teas by 11am. Had a nice long tea break with a friend, what a nice surprise and an unexpected break in the day…
Didn‘t actually have lunch, but came home after work with a plan to just crash. But ended up digging up my earring, folding laundry and then showered. Started watching TV and the next thing I knew, it was 7:30pm. Definitely time to eat…with a host of leftovers, a 5lb bag of bean sprouts, a box of strawberries…I had a whole host of choices! After dinner, watched a CSI:NY and a Criminal Minds (Shemar Moore|Whoa). Both were awesome…not something I can follow weekly, but good TV that wasn’t a rerun
Time to sleep early again…rest up for the gruelling Thursday and Friday that awaits me.

Tuesday, March 09, 2010

Too Much Tuesday

Worked out again this morning and made myself eat a breakfast of champions (1/2 a cup of Shreddies and 1/2 cup of Raisin Bran). It feels good to be healthy again. Headed to the bar after work and shared some wine, spinach dip and fish and chips with my cool co-workers. Watched an awesome Canucks game that was awfully disappointing during the first period…but we came from behind and crushed Colorado! Woohoo.
Should have called it a night then, but for some reason, we ended up at Charm and had another vino…thank goodness I didn’t have to drive home.

Monday, March 08, 2010

Marvelous Monday

Did the gym thing again this morning. Feeling good that I can make this a new habit…I think it’s a fantastic way to start off your day. It makes you realize how much you actually eat when you see how few calories you burn when you exercise. It’s time to bring out my insane-o excel spreadsheet, calories, fat, fibre, and points, oh my!
Came home after work and crashed by 9pm. Figured I’ll need to rest so that I can hit the gym again tomorrow. Besides, tomorrow will be a night of debauchery with work folks. Thank goodness RSP season is over!

Sumptious Sutton Sunday

Had a fabulous brunch today with my parents at Fleuri in Sutton Place Hotel. A nice buffet with egg white omelettes, yummy smoked salmon, dimsum, crispy bacon, Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, watermelon, pineapple and honeydew…oh my! Went to Oakridge afterwards to see if I could find a new duvet. It has been a little cold at night and I thought I would treat myself to a new fluffy blanket. But alas, it was not meant to be. Will have to keep searching for now.
Stayed home to watch the Oscars with a friend. We didn’t even finish a bottle of vino…but two cans of Coke Zero though. Did an awesome cold cut plate…elk and wild boar sausage, prosciutto, camembert, medium aged gouda and a fresh warm baguette…alongside a fantastic seafood antipasto…that’s how you cope with the long Oscar speeches. Very happy that Sandra Bullock won…her victory speech…legendary.

Sniffly Saturday

Got totally sidelined by allergies today. It is as if my nose decided to stop working altogether. Talked to my mom on the phone and even she was shocked at how nasty I sounded.
Stayed home and got treated to takeout sushi and Dristan delivery. Staying home has its benefits! Made it an early night and just watched tv and vegged

Friday, March 05, 2010

Fit Friday

Woke up this morning and headed straight for the gym..not the same way as yesterday where I just got “to” the gym, but didn’t actually making it “into” the gym. Did my 30 mins of cardio and felt really good about myself. Had a quick appointment after work at the dentist and found out that my chipped tooth is a result of my nightly grinding. Wow, I really should make sure I start using that mouthguard he made me.
Headed back to Yaletown to meet a friend for a few drinks at the Keg. Shared a nice bottle of BC wine and then turned him onto a glass of my favourite, J Lohr. Decided that we’d head to the Cactus Club and have another round. Dinner plans were made early on, and I had to make myself scarce. But it was a nice relaxing night.

Thursday, March 04, 2010

TV Thursday

Cooking afterwork! Started my 7.30-3.30 shift today! Handing out after work with a friend to make Loh Bak Goh. Shredding daikon and mixing in rice flour, it was pretty easy!
I like making stuff from scratch but I really do hate cleaning up…sometimes, it's just easier to go and buy it. But there is a sense of accomplishment that comes with doing it. And since I was making it on my own, I could make it meatless (without the chinese sausage), and I can actually indulge in this treat before Easter!
Watched my very first full episode of Survivor (not of this season, I mean first ever) and I was a little hooked. Must remind myself to stay away!

Wednesday, March 03, 2010

Wing-less Wednesday

Was supposed to go and catch a movie to fulfill my new year's resolution of two movies per month. I failed miserably last month, but I did attend loads of Olympic events, so I think it's fair to call it a wash. However, by the evening…I wasn't really in a movie mood afterall. Headed to Costco and then decided to check out Wing Wednesday at Earls. Since I wasn't eating meat, my friend decided to abstain as well! We ended up having the Spinach and Feta Dip, as well as the West Coast Shrimp Salad...so good. Meatlessness leading to a whole new way of life. Watched the Canucks win...it's legendary...:)

Tasty Tuesday

Okay - so back to my 8-4 regular shift and I don't like it one bit! I miss my 6-2 where I get to leave at 2! Saw the clock ticking past 3 and really wondered why the heck I was still at the office. So, proposed and got approval for 7.30-3.30 shift…this I can live with! Dinner tonight at the Poor Italian...new place on Rupert and 1st, have totally been looking forward to it! Dying try either their risotto or other pasta...funghi...yum. Also got their antipasto platter, along with beef carpaccio. The platter had anchovies and smoked salmon...so good! Must go back and have their rack of lamb, which was amazing according to my stepdad.

Monday Blues

It's over…it's really over. Olympic hangover has begun to set in. And my allergies are here too. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom. My nose feels like it's going to run away on me…I feel like I need to get a new nose, a new cuter nose. Stayed home and napped most of the day. Had made plans for dinner tonight that I didn't want to cancel though. Hit the neighbourhood White Spot up for a yummy garden burger. I wish I could have a pirate pak instead...I miss those gold coins.
